The Commander Bar & Oyster Bar - Nottinghill

I was invited to dine at The Commander Bar in Bayswater via Zomato , an online app to help you find the most suitable restaurant for you to dine in.
I took a friend of mine Miss M. She loves food too and it is a great way for us to have girlie catch-up. We arrived at Paddington Station and ordered a taxi via Gett Taxis. A safe taxi app that books your taxi straight away. You can actually watch the taxi coming towards you and who the driver is along with the registration plate of the taxi, so you know exactly who is picking you up. It's brilliant and I wouldn't use any other way of getting a taxi in London anymore.
The Commander Bar is a lovely restaurant and very spacious. Infact it seemed huge. Perfect for a big gathering, or even a wedding celebration. We were greeted by a very smiley and friendly waitress, who seated us in a booth at the front that I reserved.
We went on a Sunday night, so we dined from the Sunday Menu which was £24.50 for two courses and £28.50 for three courses.

We started off with a Maldon Rock Oyster each. My friend had never had Oyster before, so, it was fun watching her face trying to overcome the fear of eating it. These were lovely, but as Oysters don't really have a huge flavour apart from salt, the vinaigrette just finished it off.

We then enjoyed our Starters of Crispy Squid with Lemon Mayonnaise and Garlic Grilled Prawns. These were both really nice and very flavoursome.
Presentation of the Squid could have been improved slightly, but, it tasted really good.

For our mains we had difficulty in deciding as we both fancied a steak (which is served on every
other night but a Sunday) so we opted for something we wouldn't normally order.
Grilled Vegetables with Mozzarella and Salsa Verde and the Butternut Squash with Ricotta Ravioli and Sage Butter.

Not the most attractive dishes, however the Ravioli did taste very nice and the sage butter was really delicious. I do believe the portion were a bit to small. It certainly needed something else to boost the appeal. My friend wasn't impressed with the grilled vegetables, she said it was too greasy for her liking and was too bland. It definitely needed more colour to it and a vegetable that didn't turn to mush once cooked.
The desserts brought the joy back to our meal. My friend chose the Panna Cotta and I had the Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse. I'm glad to say that these were both divine - Melt in the mouth desserts.

I would definitely recommend going to The Commander, as the restaurant and staff are amazing, and their menu has so many great dishes to try. I would probably go on a Saturday night next time, so I can try their Steak instead. The Surf and Turf with a 220g Steak with King Prawns sounds perfect for me. Wow!!!
