They both love cooking so I encourage them to help me as much as they can. My daughter is now in the cooking club at school, which is brilliant, as she's made fabulous cookies and a pasta salad all by herself at school, so this encourages me to let her do what she likes in the kitchen at home.
Every parent should encourage cooking more, but, if you are one of the few like my friend, who is in the cant cook club, there is always help on hand!!!
Little Cook Box !!! This is a home delivery service so you can get weekly boxes of fresh and pre-portioned food that your kids can cook pretty much by themselves. Each kit is for 2 meals and they will take 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
They currently have 12 meal kits to choose from, so you can mix and match weekly and even let the kids decide what they want to cook the following week.
You have to subscribe and order a minimum of 4 boxes a week and you can order up to a maximum of 9 boxes per week, so you can have lunch and dinner included too.
With the subscription you can stop and start it at any time if you are away so you never get charged for what you don't need.
They arrive in a large box with a cold pack to keep them cool throughout delivery and most of the packaging is recyclable which is an added bonus.
Have a look at the meals we received. You can see that most of the the meal is completed by the children, and they had so much fun through the process.
My 6 year old, pretty much made this meal all on his own .... and ate most of too !!! He was supposed to be sharing it with his dad, but he loved it so much - even the mushrooms !! (which goes to prove that if they make it themselves, they are more likely going to try it)
The burgers were baked in the oven, however I did fry them off for a bit afterwards to finish them off.
These were delicious !!
My daughter really liked making the goujons, but I struggled to brown them off, so you could quickly fry them instead of oven baking them. I would also cut up the chicken pieces so they are smaller and easy to wrap up. Otherwise, this was a really good meal. My daughter ate most of it herself.
The Calzone, was so much fun to make, but there just wasn't enough. It was delicious !!
Here are the instructions on the back of each meal so you can see how easy they are.
I would highly recommend these kits as the kids had a great experience making these meals and they even tried a few new foods for them. They can be costly for some, but if you have no budget then these are absolutely perfect. You could literally put them in the fridge and your kids can make their own dinners, with no wastage..... perfect !!
