Quick Easy Cranberry Flapjacks with BuyWholefoodsOnline.co.uk

Flapjacks....I love them !!! They are easy to make and so versatile. I like mixing up my recipes with different fruits or nuts and seeds. So this week, as I have a box of healthy yumminess from www.buywholefoodsonline.co.uk, I was experimenting and tried a few different ways with different ingredients. When you add loads of different ingredients to a flapjack it then turns into an energy bar !! But for this post, I'm keeping it more simple.
I always made flapjacks, since school, and when i was pregnant, I had such massive cravings for flapjacks, I was literally making them on a weekly if not daily basis, as I kept eating them all. However, Oats are super healthy for you, as they reduce heart disease, which is my main reason for eating them daily, and they also lower your blood sugar levels and help with weight loss and weight maintenance. They make you feel fuller for longer, so they are a great little snack in the middle of the day or if you have oats for breakfast or in a shake they keep the hunger pangs away. So, this is why we need oats in our lives.
I'm just going to show you a quick and easy recipe and then also tell you how you can change it up.

Basic Recipe :
350g Rolled Oats
200g Butter
140-150g Honey

If I'm adding different ingredients, I like to reduce the honey to 140g as it can make the flapjacks too sweet. Especially if you are adding a lot of dried fruit.

Added extras for this recipe:
1 Mashed Banana
30g Chopped Dried Cranberries (you can add up 50g of Cranberries if you like your flapjacks sweet)
50g Sunflower Seeds

Cook in a reheated oven at 180 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes depending on how crispy you like your flapjacks.


So, very simply, melt the butter and the honey together in a saucepan.

Whilst they are melting together, mash up your banana. Bananas make the flapjacks chewy and add a little bit of extra goodness, as well as natural sugars.


I also added some chopped BuyWholefoodsOnline Dried Cranberries. I only added 30g on this occasion, but you can add as many or as much as you like.
Always remember that you change up any recipe to suit you.

I then added the rolled oats, the cranberries and sunflower seeds to the melted butter and honey and mixed it well.

Then as a massive cheat I used a cake tin liner in an 8 by 8 dish and baked it in the oven at 180 degrees. Done. So easy and so good for you.

Take the dish out of the oven and just let the flapjacks cool. the more you let them cool the easier they are to cut. I'm always impatient, I can't help it, so they go a little crumbly, but that's OK they're mine.
They then get stored in a tupper wear box so the kids can help themselves easily. In less than a day, I only have 5 left, which I'm sure will all go once the kids have returned from school.

Chopped Dried Apple
Cinnamon
Flaxseeds / Linseeds
Chia Seeds
Peanut Butter
Cashew Nut Butter
Almond Nut Butter
Chocolate Pieces
Chopped Dried Apricot
Pumpkin Seeds
Whole Nuts or Chopped Nuts
Dates
Dried Figs


Literally..... any dried fruit, seeds, nuts and beyond.

Golden Turmeric Milk Recipe with BuyWholefoodsOnline.co.uk

I recieved an order from www.buywholefoodsonline.co.uk which included a fantastic selection of healthy products: including vibrant beetroot powdernatural ceylon cinnamonchocolate carob powderdelicate raw honey and mild turmeric powder.

So I thought as I now have so much turmeric I would make some golden turmeric milk.
Turmeric has so many benefits that we should really be drinking or consuming it daily.
It is a gorgeous bright yellow colour so you can't miss it on the shelves in a shop. Turmeric has been used in Indian foods for thousands of years and gives the curry that lovely yellow colouring, aswell as filling the curries and other foods with very powerful anitioxidants.
The best way to get all the goodness from turmeric whilst cooking it is by also adding black pepper to the dishes. Which sounds weird for a drink, but you literally just need a very small amount, so it is unlikely that you will taste it.
Turmeric contain curcumin which is a huge anti-inflammatory and reduces your fat intake but to get the curcumin to work, you need the piperine that is in black pepper to get it to work it wonders.

I tried out a few different recipes with BuyWholefoodsOnline products for turmeric milk to show how versatile it is as a drink.


Recipe 1 - Delicious Turmeric Milk

1 Cup of Milk, any milk you like
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Mild Turmeric Powder
Pinch of Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Honey

Add it all to a saucepan and heat gently whilst whisking



Recipe 2 - Delicious Turmeric & Cinnamon Milk

1 Cup of Milk, any milk you like
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Mild Turmeric Powder
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Ceylon Cinnamon
Pinch of Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Honey

Add it all to a saucepan and heat gently whilst whisking - I found this harder to mix but it tasted really nice. I also thought that you could add so many spices to the drink, like nutmeg, all spice, maybe even a tiny amount of chilli. You could get very creative just with spices alone.


Recipe 3 - Delicious Chocolate Turmeric Milk

1 Cup of Milk, any milk you like
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Mild Turmeric Powder
1 Teaspoon of BuyWholefoodsOnline Carob Powder
Pinch of Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Honey

Add it all to a saucepan and heat gently whilst whisking. This was a nice smooth chocolaty flavour, which obviously you can add an extra teaspoon of carob if you would like a stronger flavour or maybe even melt some dark chocolate into the turmeric milk.


Recipe 4 - Delicious Matcha Turmeric Milk

1 Cup of Milk, any milk you like
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Mild Turmeric Powder
1/2 Teaspoon of Matcha Green Tea
Pinch of Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon BuyWholefoodsOnline Honey

Add it all to a saucepan and heat gently whilst whisking. I like to have matcha daily as its also full of antioxidants and is my natural source of caffeine. I really liked this combination, but I have had loads before.


Lastly, dont be afraid of adding it to smoothies and protein shakes. You have to learn to be extra creative when it comes to being extra healthy. It gives off a beautiful colour, and it has better natural anti-inflammation than medicines. 
This is vanilla protein shake mix with an added teaspoon of turmeric. Absolutely delicious.
