This is so quick to make and easy, all you need is a blender or food processor and of course these wonderful ingredients.
1 drained can of chickpeas
2 gloves of garlic
1 large lemon (or 2 small lemons) juiced
3 tablespoons Tahini
4 tablespoons Olive Oil
Pinch of Salt
Pinch of Pepper
1 tablespoon Beetroot Powder from BuyWholeFoodsOnline
Because I am using beetroot powder instead of a fresh beetroot, we needed more liquids, hence why the tahini and olive oil amount is higher than normal.
Another ingredient that you could use is Yoghurt to make it lovely and creamy, but only put a tablespoon in, otherwise it becomes too yoghurty.
Put all the ingredients in a blender and simply whizz until you have the consistency that you like. You can add water or more olive oil if you require. It's just a recipe which is a guide, you can always tweak recipes to suit you.
Serve with pitta bread, crunchy bread, fresh bread, bread sticks, carrot and cucumber sticks. This can also be added to sandwiches as a healthy option spread. Hummus and Halloumi sandwiches are really good !! You can basically add this to anything you like.
My recipe lasted a freshly baked ciabatta, and was eaten in minutes. It was really good.
Have you ever made your own hummus? What's your favourite recipe ?
